My name is Erica Young and I decided to start this website based on my personal experience of a lawyer in Jamaica in 2005/2006. I consider myself a European Jamaican.  Born in the United Kingdom to Jamaican parents, who returned to Jamaica in the 1970s when I was a baby, they settled in Kingston where they started their own business.  The last of four children, I grew up in Jamaica and lived there for 16 years of my life until I returned to the UK for further studies. I have a law degree and a masters degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science and work and live in the UK. I am a young professional who regularly retreat to Jamaica for peace and tranquillity from a highly stressed job abroad.

I engaged a high profile lawyer to execute the sale of a property on the North Coast of the beautiful island of Jamaica in July 2005. Having made a cash offer on a property which was duly accepted by the vendors' lawyer, I paid an initial deposit of 15% of the asking price to my lawyer, and a further 60% of the asking price, in total 75% of the total monies due, only for my lawyer to withhold my money and refuse to transfer funds to the vendors' lawyers for several months.  I nearly lost all my money which amounted to many thousands of Great British Pounds. Having had a poor experience  of the legal service in Jamaica, I researched and found that a significant number of people trying to buy and sell property in Jamaica had a similar experience, and so I decided to start this website which is designed to bring integrity back into the entire process of conveyancing in the Jamaican property market. The emphasis is on safeguarding your interests when buying or selling property in Jamaica.

I wish someone had told me the secrets of successfully buying property in Jamaica before my nightmare experience.  It would have saved me months of anxiety, mental anguish and stress. This is why I want to guide you on how to achieve your goal of owning that dream property in Jamaica, and how to avoid the pitfalls during this process.
